Summary points:

  1. Frail older adults with cancer are more likely to have significant symptoms affecting quality of life that may be worsened with curative intent cancer treatment.
  2. Ethics in providing curative intent treatment for older adults with cancer is tenuous considering treatment evidence are largely extrapolated from young and uniformly robust subjects. Older adult’s personal preference and priorities may differ from their family and physician. Many also values quality of life above quantity of life.
  3. The GOSPEL study aims to provide evidence for the geriatric-oncology-supportive clinic model of care to improve quality of life in older adults with cancer.
