Essentials of Collaborative Palliative Care (basic)

- Comfort-focused and holistic care approaches
- Basic symptom assessment and supportive care
- Basic nursing care and pressure injury prevention
- Changes in end-of-life care and escalation needs
- Communication, teamwork, and self-care in palliative care practice

This course provides an introduction to palliative and supportive care for patients with life-limiting illnesses. Participants will gain understanding of symptom recognition and management, learn basic nursing care and recognize clinical deterioration requiring support.
This course is designed for support staff, including nursing and therapy aides, counsellors, social work associates, administrators, volunteers and befrienders in the healthcare setting.

Ms Madelina Lim
Nurse Educator, Dover Park Hospice
Madelina is a nurse at Dover Park Hospice, dedicated to supporting and facilitating learners in their journey towards professional growth. By combining practical instructional design with a focus on improving organisational performance, she creates meaningful learning experiences. She has a Specialist Diploma in Palliative Care Nursing (SDPCN), a Graduate Diploma in Workplace Learning (GDWPL), and a Diploma in Design and Development of Learning for Performance (DDDLP). She also holds a Graduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning (NUS) and an Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA).

Ms Elaine Yip
Nurse Educator, Dover Park Hospice
Elaine is a nurse in Dover Park Hospice. She currently works as a Nurse Educator after years honing her skills as a homecare staff nurse. Her passion lies in training and mentoring new nurses in palliative care. In 2018, she completed her Advanced Diploma in Palliative Care at Nanyang Polytechnic, and obtained her Advanced Certificate in Learning and Performance (ACLP) in September 2024.
Course fees: SGD 450 per person (excluding GST)
- Eligible Community Care Organisations (CCOs) may tap onto the Community Care Training Grant (CCTG) to subsidize course fees.
- This course is not eligible for funding using SkillsFuture Credit.
