This introductory workshop provides a structured foundation in integrating palliative care principles into intensive care practice. It introduces participants to core concepts of ICU–palliative care integration, practical symptom management strategies, ethical decision-making frameworks, compassionate discharge planning, and the psychological dimensions of critical illness for both families and healthcare providers. Through multidisciplinary teaching, participants will gain practical tools to improve quality of care, align treatment with patient goals, and cultivate resilience in high-intensity clinical environments.

This programme is suitable for intensive care physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals seeking foundational knowledge and practical approaches to integrating palliative care in the intensive care setting.

Adjunct Associate Professor Poi Choo Hwee is a Senior Consultant in Palliative Medicine at Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Following her fellowship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, she leads the integration of Palliative Care in TTSH ICUs. She teaches at the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, is a module lead for the Holistic Palliative Care Programme at LKCSoM, and is involved in the National Palliative Medicine Residency Programme.
